2023 Mitsubishi Outlander price and specs

Mitsubishi has given its non-hybrid Outlander SUV range some tweaks for the 2023 model year ahead of first arrivals during January next year.

Pricing for existing Outlander variants are up by up to $1000, with the range now starting at $36,240 before on-road costs for the ES five-seat 2WD, and extending to $53,490 before on-road costs for the Exceed Tourer seven-seat AWD.

Updated pricing and specification for the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid (PHEV) range hasn’t been detailed yet.

A new LS Black Edition 7-seat 2WD variant has joined the Outlander range for the 2023 model year, plugging the gap between the regular LS and Aspire. It’s priced from $41,490 before on-road costs.

The LS Black Edition adds 20-inch black alloy wheels, premium paint, and blacked-out door mirrors, bumpers and grille. Inside it gets black headlining, a black “laser etched” gearshift surround, plus ‘Mi-Suede’ seats with synthetic leather bolsters.

All 2023 Mitsubishi Outlanders now feature an expanded autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system that now works when reversing, as well as a memory setting for the auto hold function, and a HVAC refrigerant update.

The entry-level Outlander ES gets further additional safety in the form of rear cross-traffic alert and auto high-beam.

However, there’s a downside: The Outlander ES grade now moves to an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, featuring wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, in place of the 9.0-inch interface with wireless Apple CarPlay – “due to ongoing parts supply constraints”.

Further up the range, the Outlander Exceed and the Exceed Tourer flagship pickup Mitsubishi’s MI-PILOT driving assistant.

This adds Traffic Jam Assist (adaptive cruise control that re-engages after a complete stop), Lane Keep Assist (using steering control assistance rather than wheel braking), and Speed Limit Assistance (adaptive cruise control that matches the Outlander to the indicated speed limit).

The steering wheel in these grades will now feature touch sensors to handle MI-PILOT engagement, and will disengage the system when the driver’s grip is not detected, when turn signals are on, or when windscreen wipers are continuously operated at their highest speed.

Furthermore, Outlander Exceed and Exceed Tourer grades also gain a heated steering wheel and sequential front indicators, while Exceed Tourer further adds standard rear seat heating and more two-tone paint options (Stirling Silver/Black Mica and Titanium/Black Mica are new).

The Outlander is a hit with buyers in the medium SUV segment, with 15,619 sales to the end of October and 10.8 per cent market share. This puts it ahead of the Kia Sportage (15,497) and Hyundai Tucson (14,493), and behind only the Toyota RAV4 (30,370) and Mazda CX-5 (23,476).

The Outlander is comfortably Mitsubishi’s second top-selling car in Australia now, behind the Triton.
