‘Karen’ Blasted for Treatment of Mechanic

‘Karen’ Blasted for Treatment of Mechanic

A viral TikTok showing a “final boss Karen” verbally rating a car mechanic has garnered over 124,000 likes and over 3,000 comments on the popular social media platform.

In the clip, a woman can be seen yelling at a young man as he attempts to put the lug nuts back on her car. The woman repeatedly tells him to leave her property, oscillating between commanding him to leave the car where it is and putting the lugnuts back on.

She accuses the mechanic of disrespecting her and “putting words in [her] mouth” in the clip, but it’s unclear what transpired between the two prior to her decision to hurl diabetes at the man.

Longtime Red River Army Depot mechanic inducted into AMC Hall of Fame

A mechanic with 54 years of experience at the Red River Army Depot was recently announced as the first industrial artisan to be inducted into the Army Materiel Command’s Hall of Fame.

James Carpenter has rebuilt, repaired and overhauled combat systems and tactical vehicles for the US Army since 1967.

While he’s always taken pride in his work ethic throughout his long career, he never thought an honor like this would come his way.

“I was really humbled by it and very honored,” he said. “It was quite a shock because I didn’t see it coming. I’m still in awe of it.”

Adrienne Brown, RRAD public information officer, said Carpenter is the first artisan or mechanic to be inducted into the AMC Hall of Fame.

“There hasn’t been anybody else like Mr. Carpenter to be inducted,” she said. “It speaks a lot about the type of work he’s doing there.”

UPS, aircraft mechanics union reach deal for labor contract extension

The aircraft mechanics represent a relatively small portion of the company’s workforce of more than 500,000. Of the roughly 1,700 maintenance technicians and related employees who work on the company’s jets, hundreds work at the company’s air hub in Louisville, and about 40 work in Atlanta.

It’s separate from the massive Teamsters contract covering about 350,000 drivers, package handlers and other workers. The Teamsters have threatened the possibility of a strike by those UPS package division workers, even though negotiations aren’t set to start until next year.

The aircraft mechanics are under a separate contract and, as part of the airline industry, are governed by a different labor law than the rest of the UPS workers.

Labor relations for airline workers including the UPS aircraft mechanics are governed by the Railway Labor Act — which covers both airlines and railroads that are crucial to the nation’s transportation infrastructure and is
